Letter from the President
A Letter from the Union President,
As the newest president of the IAFF Local 2533, I am proud to serve the members of the Branford Professional Firefighters and ultimately the citizens and guests of the Town of Branford. We are a small group of 34 union members tasked with providing advanced life support (paramedics), fire suppression and protection, hazardous materials incident mitigation, rescue, marine rescue, and much more. As a service driven organization we strive to provide the highest level of care to the people we serve, not only as firefighters, but as paramedics, and trusted members of the community as well. The Brothers and Sister of local 2533 wear many hats within the Town of Branford, including public educators, firefighters and technical rescue personnel, health care, property conservation, and environmental preservation all in an effort to keep our community a safe and desired place to be.
Our service to the town and the community go well beyond firefighting and emergency medical services. As trusted members of the Branford community we have kept a long and consistent history of charitable works and donation as well as community service. These services include public education, fire prevention, outreach programs, and programs for the elderly population including emergency information cards, just to name a few. For a list our most recent contributions and projects click on the charities tab on our website.
The purpose and direction of our organization shall be:
•To unite fraternally for social, benevolent and intellectual improvement of the members of the Branford Professional Firefighters Association.
•To establish funds for the benefit of its members.
•To afford moral, material aid and relief to its sick and disabled members and their dependents.
We, as a union, will strive to maintain a harmonious working relationship with the Town of Branford, as we have in years passed. The health and safety, as well as fair wage and benefit packages of our members are promoted through negotiations and based on services performed by personnel with similar requirements in surrounding communities.
We will continue to improve our knowledge of our profession and our performance to support the health and welfare of not only the union members but the citizens and guest of the Town of Branford as well. As a result, investments have been made by this union to upgrade technology used for structural firefighting and EMS, which includes LED flashlights and two-way radios, safety harnesses and bail-out kits, as well as a LUCAS CPR device.
We hope you enjoy the website. Please, feel free contact us for more information, questions, and/or concerns. We are here to serve and protect.
Yours in service,
Branford Professional Firefighters
